Airship Industries

 3 Février 1979, 1er vol du dirigeable AD 500 après son assemblage dans le hangar n° 1 de l’ancienne base de dirigeables de Cardington, Angleterre.

28 Septembre 1981 ,le Skyship 500 n° 2 G-BIHN ( volume 5153 m3 longueur 52 m) effectue son 1er vol, il est le premier dirigeable européen.

Etudié et assemblé en Angleterre par Airship Industries, l’enveloppe est Française et les moteurs Allemands, il annonce le renouveau du dirigeable en Europe.

Il utilise les matériaux les plus modernes : Enveloppe en Kevlar, Cabine en matériaux composites, propulseurs carénés pivotants, possibilité de décoller et d'atterrir verticalement.

Mars 1984, 1er vol du nouveau modèle SKYSHIP 600 plus grand que le SK 500 avec une cabine plus spacieuse, et son enveloppe de 6666 m3 est longue de 59 m .

De 1979 à 1989 Airship Industries a construit 15 dirigeables.

1988,d’Avril à Juillet ,le G-SKSC au départ de l’aéroport de Roissy, emmenait une dizaine de passagers pour le tour de Paris en 90 minutes aller-retour (voir ci-contre le prospectus du SKYCRUISE).

En Juillet 1989, le G-SKSC a été utilisé pour la surveillance aérienne au dessus de Paris pendant le sommet du G7 .

 

Le 18 janvier 2002, Elisabeth City, Caroline du Nord USA , le nouveau dirigeable Skyship 600 N-606SA a effectué son premier vol".

 

Baptisé  SANTOS-DUMONT, en hommage à l'aviateur Brésilien-français.

Le dirigeable Santos-Dumont, modifié est de type Skyship 600, le volume 6800 mètres cubes. Il est capable de transporter jusqu'à 13 passagers ou deux tonnes d'équipement.

Le "Santos-Dumont" est équipé d’une enveloppe développée par TCOM L.P. et avec des moteurs extérieurs fabriqués par Textron Lycoming  IO-540's de 300cv.

 

Le 23 décembre 2002 - la FAA a certifié le nouveau Skyship 600 N-606SA équipé de moteurs Textron Lycoming IO-540.

FAA  a attribué un certificat Supplémentaire (STC) après d’essais en vol sur Skyship N 606SA.

Le nouveau système de propulsion facilite et augmente la rapidité des manœuvres en vol standard d’atterrissages et de décollages.

In February 3,1979, 1 st flight of the airship AD 500 after the assembly in the hangar n° 1 of the ancient base of CARDINGTON’s airships, England.

In September 28, 1981, the SKYSHIP 500 n° 2 G-BIHN (volume 5153 m3,lenght 52 m ) makes his 1 st flight, it is the first European airship.

Study and assembly in England by AIRSHIP-INDUSTRIES, the envelope is French and the engines are German,announces the flourish of the airship in Europe .

It uses the most modern materils : Wrap in Kevlar, Cabin in dissimilar materials, Swivelling careened propellers, possibility to take off and to land verticallly.

In March, 1984 1 st fight of the new model bigger SKYSHIP 600 than the SK 500 with a more spacious cabin : volume envelope 6666 m3, lenght 59 m.

Of 1979, from April till Jully, the G-SKSC from the Roissy’s airport, took a passengers ten for the tour of Paris in 90 minutes going there and back 5 ( see opposite the brochure of the SKYCRUISE ).

In july, 1989, the G-SKSC was used for the air surveillance above Paris during the summit of the G7 .

 

Elizabeth City, North Carolina, On January 18, 2002, N-606SA the world's newest large airship completed her "maiden flight".

To be named the SANTOS-DUMONT, after the Brazilian-French aviator who first flew an airship in controlled flight around the Eiffel Tower.

The Santos-Dumont, a modified Skyship 600 type airship, volume of 6,800 cubic meters. This blimp is capable of carrying up to 13 passengers (or two tons of equipment), at speeds up to 60 mph, and to an altitude of 10,000 feet.

The "Santos-Dumont" is fitted with an envelope developed by TCOM L.P. and with outboard engines manufactured by Textron Lycoming (IO-540's).

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – (December 23, 2002) – The Federal Aviation Administration today certified a new Skyship 600 N-606SA airship built by Airship Management Services and outfitted with Textron Lycoming IO-540 engines, a vectorable thrust outboard propulsion system that required a Supplemental Type Certificate.
